Smart Grid Illinois - ADICA

ADICA is committed to empowering individuals, companies and nations in pursuit of sustainable development. Consistent with this goal, we established the Smart Illinois^SM collaborative designed to make Illinois a worldwide leader in the development and implementation of smart grid technology.

Under the Smart Illinois^SM collaborative, ADICA works with businesses, government entities and research centers from around the world to develop and deploy smart grid technology and policy in the state of Illinois. International collaboration on smart grid solutions in Illinois is expected to stimulate economic development, reduce energy costs, improve electric grid reliability, and improve environmental quality.

Illinois was cited for its collaborative approach to the smart grid, which involves and engages communities across the state. Through these activities, Illinois has received international recognition as an ideal partner for smart grid development and deployment.

International partners are attracted to the wide array of smart grid and renewable energy projects in Illinois and to the state's advanced research capabilities at national labs and universities. They want to develop and deploy emerging technologies in a part of the world that has a lucrative market conducive for smart grid implementation.

Through the Smart Illinois^SM collaborative, the state benefits from enhanced technology and substantial foreign investment, which helps to bring smart grid benefits to consumers and create jobs in the green economy.

In early 2010, the Illinois' Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy signed a formal agreement to jointly develop and deploy smart grid technologies and business models.
